Art for Water will feature artwork from local area artists and work from around the country. A silent auction of the artwork will occur during the event with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Philippines Typhoon Relief.
Art for Water was created out of the fact we live in a water rich ecosystem being the Great Lakes and clean fresh water is available to us with ease. Providing accessibility of clean water to the Philippines by sending water filters is a step towards helping out our communities across the globe. The non-profit Wine to Water, is matching the amount of donations raised from this event as well.
Come out to support and hang, give some high fives!

Hugging the western shoreline of the Keweenaw Peninsula on Lake Superior in the most northern reaches of Michigan is this monastery, modeled after a Russian Orthodox skete. The monks of the Society of St John started this Holy Transfiguration Monastery (Byzantine) thirty years ago in a modest dwelling that still houses their “Jam Pot”. At the “Jam Pot”, one can purchase thimble berry preserves. Only in the northern Keweenaw can one find the wild thimble berry bushes. A most amazing place in the most unlikely of settings.

Spent a week at my family’s farm house in the Keweenaw of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for a week. That part of way northern Michigan that has the thumb that jets out into Lake Superior. Alone in a cabin in the woods. Cooked Quinoa/Black Bean soup, raced a cyclocross race, mtn biked, moved wood, hiked some peaks and generally just zoned out all alone in the wilderness. Recharge and get some fresh air which is must needed. Beautiful place with some a rich cultural history to it. Currently the wolves are keeping a eye on everything and everyone.

Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial bike ride. 200 mile bike ride from Grand Rapids, Mi to Cadillac and back. Riding for the 29 sailors that perished into Lake Superior on board of the Edmund Fitzgerald freighter that went down in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. Good times through snow, sleet, rain, whiskey, donuts, wheelies all while pedaling with 32 other folks.
